Composite materials

Our interest in composite theory is mainly on the analytical derivation of higher-order theories via homogenization of heterogeneous materials. In this field, for the first time, we have related the microstructure of a Cauchy elastic material to the behaviour of a homogeneous Cosserat material, finding analytical -but simple- expressions, relating the microstructure geometry to the length scale parameters.

For the first time, we have related the microstructure of a linear interface to the behaviour of a nonlocal interface model, thus relating the nonlocality parameters to the geometry of the interface.
